Leif Garrett was arrested Monday morning at the Metrolink station in downtown Los Angeles for possession of a controlled substance.
According to authorities, Garrett was about to board a train when deputies patrolling the subway station discovered he was in possession of black tar heroin.
“He was sweating and shaking profusely,” said sheriff’s spokesman Steve Whitmore.
Garrett reportedly told the deputies he “gets nervous around law enforcement because of his prior experience,” and denied having any drugs, allowing the deputies to search him.
The 48-year-old former teen idol then informed the deputies that he was hiding black tar heroin in his shoe, Whitmore said.
Garrett, who has a history of drug abuse, was released on bond this morning. He is due back in court on February 24.
