Kate Gosselin Speaks Out On The Today Show (VIDEO)

Kate Gosselin of the TLC reality television show Jon & Kate Plus 8 is traveling the country on a book tour for her latest Eight Little Faces….but, what we really want to hear about is her take on the affair that Jon Gosselin is reported to have been engaged in since February 2009. Kate told Meredith Vieira that she is very hesitant to believe what the tabloids are reporting because “we all know they pay people thousands of dollars for information.” She acknowledges that it has been a tough couple of weeks and they are weathering the storm by staying focused on their children.

We’ve seen photos and video in recent weeks showing Jon enjoying the bar scene with female companions. The first photo was explained away as fans of the show who wanted their photo taken. The second photo shows the father of eight making a quick getaway from a bar at 2:00 a.m. with Reading, Pennsylvania third grade school teacher Deanna Hummel.

Then Jon came forward and admitted to making poor choices, but defended his right to have female ‘friends’. Next we heard from the young school teacher, who said there was nothing going on between the two other than the fact that they enjoy partying with other mutual friends. THEN….it was Deanna’s brother Jason Hummel‘s turn to throw his sister under the bus and declare that Deanna and Jon had been involved in a three month affair.

Jason provided some salacious details and photos of his sister stretched out sunbathing while Jon looks on. He also shot video showing Gosselin sneaking around the backside of Hummel’s home and heading to his car at 7:30 a.m. on March 13.

Yesterday, both Jon and Kate were busy providing information to all of the top internet websites, denying the worst rumors and acknowledging that their marriage is in a state of chaos right now based upon “Jon’s poor decisions and irresponsible behavior” – which is typical ‘Kate speak’.

When asked if the new season of Jon & Kate Plus 8 would speak to these recent issues, the mother of eight told Vieira, “I think we will address the bigger picture, regarding the very public focus on our family and the stress it has cause in our relationship.” Kate also said that she doesn’t want to get into any of the details on screen because that lends credibility to the tabloid stories, and that isn’t something she wants to do.
