Actress Farrah Fawcett has reportedly taken a turn for the worse and has been hospitalized in Los Angeles since Thursday, where family members have gathered. The former Charlie’s Angels actress recently returned from Germany, where she had been receiving chemo therapy and embryonic stem-cell treatments for cancer.
The 62 year old actress was first diagnosed in 2006 with anal cancer. She traveled to Europe for alternative treatment and reported that her cancer had gone into remission. She suffered a recurrence in May 2007 and has continued to battle for the past two years, allowing cameras to follow her and document her treatment.
Her long term partner, actor Ryan O’Neal has been at her bedside, as has their son Redmond O’Neal. According to Radar Online, the younger O’Neal was kicked out of the court ordered Clearview Treatment Center after failing a drug test. His father was also ordered into an 18 month drug rehab program in January, the aftermath of a drug arrest of both men last year.
UPDATE: Redmond O’Neal was arrested by L.A. police at 9:30 a.m. Sunday morning on jail grounds in Castaic, California. He had dropped off two friends at a detention center so that they could visit a mutual acquaintance who was behind bars. A policeman who was patrolling the grounds stopped O’Neal and discovered that he was in possession of illegal narcotics. He was charged with possession of a controlled substance and transporting narcotics into a secured jail facility.
