Many of deceased actress Brittany Murphy‘s fans have been wondering what will become of her final movie “Abandoned”, in light of her sudden death on December 20, 2009. We can now report that Anchor Bay Entertainment has purchased the rights to the film and plans to release it this summer.
“Abandoned” also features actor Dean Cain and actress Mimi Rogers. Producers Jeffery Schenck and Barry Barnholt made a joint statement: “Brittany will be deeply missed by everyone that worked on “Abandoned”. The film is a taut thriller which portrays Brittany’s character as smart and tough — and that’s how we will always remember her.”
Bill Clark, president of Anchor Bay Entertainment said that the release of the movie will be an “honor and bittersweet.”
Murphy’s previous film “Deadline” hit the DVD market immediately on the heels of her death. Graphic movie posters were quickly recalled from kiosks across the country because they showed Brittany in death poses.
