Teen mom Bristol Palin, daughter of former Alaska governor Sarah Palin, has landed a guest appearance on an upcoming episode of ABC Family network series “The Secret Life of the American Teenager”.

The drama deals with teenage issues, including teen pregnancy. The episode will have Palin befriending Amy, played by Shailene Woodley. Scenes will be shot in Los Angeles and will air this summer as part of season three. “Secret Life” cast members include Molly Ringwald, Mark Derwin, India Eisley and Ken Baumann.

Palin, mother of toddler Tripp Johnston, will be playing herself. She issued the following statement: “I am thrilled to be on this show and to be a part of a program that educates teens and young adults about the consequences of teen pregnancy.”

Executive producer Brenda Hampton said, “I think Bristol will bring additional attention to the issues facing teen parents that we’ve been exploring for a couple of seasons now.”

Bristol recently petitioned an Alaska court to award her sole custody her son. The case has not yet gone before a judge.
