Nicole Kidman, known as one of Hollywood’s top Australian imports, was actually born in Honolulu, Hawaii, to Australian parents, giving her dual citizenship in the U.S. and Australia.

Kidman dropped out of high school to pursue acting full-time, and landed her first film role at age 16, in the Australian holiday favorite Bush Christmas (1983).

On her fear of butterflies Kidman is quoted as saying, “It’s so bizarre, I’m not scared of snakes or spiders. But I’m scared of butterflies. There is something eerie about them. Something weird!”

A three-minute commercial produced for Chanel No. 5 perfume made Kidman the record holder for the most money paid per minute to an actor after she reportedly earned $12million for the 3 minute advertisement.
