The final four contestants on the hit FOX reality show American Idol performed songs from the Rock genre and were mentored by Slash. For the first time, we saw duets performed. Adam Lambert and Allison Iraheta sang Slow Ride while Kris Allen and Danny Gokey performed Renegade.
For their solo performances, Allison performed Cry Baby and Simon Cowell thought it was a terrific vocal. Kris performed the Beatles tune Come Together, and received lackluster reviews by the judges panel. Cowell said it was “rather like eating ice for lunch – quite boring.”
Danny sang Dream On and the judges were unanimous in saying it wasn’t his genre but Randy Jackson gave him an A+ for what he called a “valiant effort”. Adam chose a Led Zepelin song Whole Lotta Love and Kara DioGuardi called him a “Rock god”.
