If you’ve been watching ‘American Idol’ the last couple of years, then you know there has been some serious changes to the format.
With judges coming and going and significant changes in the audition process, ‘Idol’ is quite different from the show that America fell in love with nearly 11 years ago.
Producers have pulled out all the stops for season 12 with the addition of Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj, and Keith Urban. Unfortunately, ratings are showing that even these big name stars are having trouble breathing new life into the aging Fox staple.
This week ratings for the once #1 show are the lowest since 2002. According to Nielson, ‘American Idol’ received a disappointing 13.1 million viewers on Wednesday night.
A huge dip in viewers seems to suggest that people have aligned with NBC’s ‘The Voice’ and another Fox singing competition, Simon Cowell’s ‘X Factor.’
Competition is down to the Top 20 finalists. Guys: Charlie Askew, Curtis Finch Jr., Paul Jolley, Elijah Liu, Devin Valez, Cortez Shaw, Burnell Taylor, Nick Boddington, Lazaro Arbos and Vincent Powell.
The ten remaining ladies: Janelle Arthur, Aubrey Cleland, Candice Glover, Zoanette Johnson, Kree Harrison, Amber Holcomb, Adriana Latonio, Angela Miller, Tenna Torres and Breanna Steer.
Is ‘American Idol’ still on your “must see” list or have you moved on to the newer shows? If the answer is yes … which of these finalists do you think will finish at the top of the pack?
