Adam Lambert had another strong performance last night on the FOX reality show American Idol. The Top 8 contestants chose songs from the year they were born.

Lambert had the coveted final slot of the evening and performed Mad World from 1982. The show ran long and with no air time remaining, Adam was only critiqued by judge Simon Cowell who said that words really weren’t necessary “but I’m going to give you a standing ovation anyway.”

Unfortunately, for the strongest competitor this season, many networks did not carry his performance and those who used TiVo to capture Lambert’s song were also disappointed to find that the performance wasn’t recorded.

Other strong performers were Danny Gokey, Anoop Desai and Matt Giraud. Check out their videos here.

Allison Iraheta had a good night too, with her performance of I Can’t Make You Love Me.

Check out the video below. Elimination results for this week – April 8, 2009 here.
