Billy Ray Cyrus appears to be trying to reinvent himself by shunning his country roots for a shot at hip-hop.
The ‘Achy Breaky Heart’ singer told talk show host Larry King that he is planning a 2014 release of a modern take on his signature tune.
King tweeted, “Just spoke with @Billyraycyrus on the phone. He’s recorded a hip-hop version of ‘Achy Breaky Heart.’ He’s excited about it and so am I!”
It has been 22 years since the single had the country crowd kicking up their heels. ‘Achy Breaky Heart’ was #1 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart for five weeks in 1992 and remains his biggest hit — reaching Platinum certification with a million sales.
Casting directors have been searching the L.A. modeling community for a vixen to appear in a music video. Billy Ray tweeted late Monday night, “Big day tomorrow. Looking forward to a great video shoot.” He added a yfrog.com link featuring his new look, check it out.
Following a second split with his wife of twenty years, the 52-year-old reconciled with Tish Cyrus in July 2013. A stint in couples therapy reportedly paved the way for the parents of Miley, Braison and Noah to rekindled their relationship and keep the marriage intact.
