‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ celeb Keira Knightley discovered after sampling Twitter for a mere twelve hours that she prefers her privacy too much to share her life experiences on social media.

The 28-year-old English actress revealed during an interview for Harper’s Bazaar that social media is not for her. “It made me feel a little bit like being on a school playground and not being popular and standing on the sidelines kind of going, ‘Arrgh.'”

Knightley quit Twitter the same day she created an account and has made peace with the painful half day of trying to be mainstream.

She acknowledged, “No, I think that’s fine. I like being private. I haven’t asked a lot of actresses who I really admire, ‘How do you do it?’ because I don’t want to know. Maybe I’m childish in that way; I just don’t want to know about your life.”

Keira will be hitting the red carpet later this month to promote her latest film, ‘Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit.’ The action thriller, co-starring Chris Pine and Kevin Costner, hits theaters on January 17, 2014.

The film credits will include a dedication to the late author Tom Clancy, who died on October 1, 2013. Check out the movie trailer below:
