During a BBC interview Monday in London, A-list actor Johnny Depp told a reporter that he is “probably not too far away” from walking away from his acting career.
While he isn’t “dropping out at any second,” Johnny is definitely thinking about retiring from acting in order to focus on “quieter” pursuits.
He mentioned in the recent Rolling Stone piece that if he added up all the words he says per year versus the on-screen dialog written by others and uttered on camera, “You start thinking about that as kind of an insane option for a human being.”
Fun Fact: JD earns a reported $20 million per film and has a net worth of $350 million.
Depp, 50, is currently doing promotional work to hype ‘The Lone Ranger,’ a box office disappointment in U.S. theaters. The big budget film cost $215 million to make and has brought in a disappointing $85 million stateside – with film critics declaring it a flop.
Canadian theaters helped to boost the total to nearly $164 million. There is still hope to bring the project out of the red zone in the UK and Japan, where the film will be remastered and released in IMAX theaters on August 2, 2013. The DVD and Blu-ray release is slated for Oct. 15, 2013.
While in Tokyo earlier this month, Depp was photographed with his children and his current girlfriend, Amber Heard – those photos here.
