Mary Kennedy, ex-wife of Robert F. Kennedy Jr., was found dead Wednesday at her home in Mount Kisco, New York.

The Bedford police department responded to the scene around 1:36 p.m. to investigate a possible “unattended death,” meaning the death was not witnessed by anyone. She was found unresponsive and early reports suggest she died from an apparent suicide.

Mary Richardson Kelly had struggled with drink and drugs during recent years, and was arrested for DUI, just one month after she was banned from driving for another motor offense.

Mary and Robert F. Kennedy Jr. were married for 16 years, and have four children. They divorced in 2010.

Mary lived at the family home in Mount Kisco, New York while Robert spent the majority of his time in Los Angeles.

Mary Kennedy was 52-years-old.
