Now that he has finished governing the State of California, Arnold Schwarzenegger has decided to showcase his glory days as a former bodybuilding icon by commissioned three life-size bronze statues.
The eight-foot tall replicas depicting the former Mr Olympia, will be crafted from a 1980 sculpture that was created by Idaho artist Ralph Crawford.
Schwarzenegger won the prestigious Mr Olympia contest seven times between 1970 and 1980.
One statue will be sent to a museum in Schwarzenegger’s hometown of Thal, Austria, to be featured in an exhibit with other Arnold memorabilia. The second will be shipped to Columbus, Ohio, where the Arnold Classic professional bodybuilding competition is held annually.
Arnold plans to keep the third statue and is thrilled with the outcome. According to TW Bronze gallery owner Tim Parks, Schwarzenegger’s exact words were, “‘This is fantastic.’ And he said it about four times.”
The politician and his wife Maria Schriver split earlier this year when she discovered he fathered a love child while she was pregnant with their 4th child in 1998.
