Regis Philbin, who turned 80 at the end of August, has finally announced the date of his last LIVE! With Regis and Kelly episode.
During today’s premiere of the show’s 24th season in syndication, Reege revealed that his final day will be November 18, 2011.
Philbin dropped the bombshell during the January 18, 2011 show that he would not be returning for the 2011-2012 season but then went silent on his actual end date.
Regis has enjoyed a 50 year career on television and holds the Guinness World Record for the most time spent in front of a television camera.
The aging show host has been married to 70-year-old interior designer Joy Philbin since 1970. The couple recently listed their Greenwich, Connecticut mansion on the market for $3.8 million – photos here.
The Philbin’s have worked hard to maintain a youthful appearance, managing to turn back the hands of time thanks to the wonders of plastic surgery.
Who will step in to co-host with Kelly Ripa? Regis answered that for viewers, “Kelly will be trying out new co-hosts, just like we did 11 years ago when we found her.” He kidded that she would be undoubtedly looking for a “new young hot” male co-host.
Ripa went for a laugh by claiming she’ll be happy to find someone “alive and breathing.”
