We learned last month that Jennifer Lopez filed for divorce, bringing an end to her seven-year marriage to Marc Anthony. Hold the tears…nobody was blindsided, this was mutual.

ABC landed the first interview and Anthony is speaking out about the split this morning on GMA and tonight on Nightline.

The singer said, “I’ll tell you that it wasn’t something sensationalistic happening. It was a realization on both our parts. So, you know, it wasn’t shocking. These things happen. It was a decision that we made jointly.”

There has been speculation that Marc stepped out of the marriage, which he denies. US Weekly reported that in 2009 he hooked up with a flight attendant on a private plane. Most recently his Hawthorne co-star Jada Pinkett Smith and her husband Will Smith were rumored to be splitting, with Anthony named as her lover.

Remaining optimistic about his future, he expressed, “This is not a funeral. This is not a burial. This is just two people who came together and just realized. . . I’m saying that it wasn’t sustainable the way it was, and that’s that.”

Lopez and Marc has three-year old twins, Max and Emme. He said, “I’m always going to be Daddy…And they’re used to me traveling and Jennifer traveling and, you know, we speak all the time, and try to maintain that presence.”

He said that he will “always love Jennifer” but a reconciliation is not in the works. “We’re going to be in each other’s lives for many, many, many years, and I’m glad that our friendship is that strong.”
