Ryan O'Neal: UT Lawsuit Seeks Farrah Fawcett Portrait by Andy Warhol

ut wants their warhol portrait

The University of Texas is attempting to force Ryan O'Neal to turn over a portrait of the late Farrah Fawcett that was created by Andy Warhol in 1980.

The work of art in question was one of two portraits that the famed artist did of the Charlie's Angels actress, and is currently valued at $30 million.

In her will, Fawcett bequeathed her extensive art collection and memorabilia to her alma mater, the University of Texas.  Listed among the inventory of items were two matching Warhol portraits.

O'Neal claims that his old friend Warhol presented one of the portraits to him and the other to Farrah.

The portrait that UT is attempting to seize was featured in a recent episode of the new OWN reality show Ryan & Tatum: The O'Neals'.  It was hanging over the actor's bed at his Malibu beach home.

A spokesman for O'Neal said: "This is a completely ridiculous lawsuit... Warhol completed two portraits, one for Miss Fawcett and one for Mr. O'Neal.  Mr. O'Neal looks forward to being completely vindicated in the courts."

Fawcett died two years ago of anal cancer.  O'Neal was not mentioned in her will.
