It was announced earlier this week that singer Christina Aguilera and her husband Jordan Bratman had been living apart for a few months while they decided if they were going to seek a divorce or work it out. The decision has been made and Christina has filed the necessary documents to end their union.
Court papers indicate that the couple officially split on September 11, 2010, citing irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split.
The couple did have a prenup in place and she has petitioned the court that “earnings and accumulations of Aguilera before marriage, during marriage and from and after the date of separation” be considered separate property.
Aguilera is requesting that Jordan not be granted spousal support. The singer has agreed to joint physical and legal custody of their 2-year-old son Max.
Rumors suggest that Christina cheated on Jordan while they were together. Her lawyer Laura Wasser has had nothing to say about those allegations.
