Former American Idol Fantasia Barrino is at the center of a legal battle between her new boyfriend Antwuan Cook and his wife.
Antwaun’s wife filed documents on August 4 requesting custody of their two children.
Paula Cook claims Fantasia and her husband made a sex tape, “Defendant/Husband and Ms. Barrino have at times recorded their illicit sexual activity,” Cook says in a statement supporting her petition.
According to Paula Cook, her husband and Fantasia began their “covert adulterous affair” a year ago. She is seeking spousal and child support in addition to custody of the children, ages 4 and 1.
Mrs. Cook also claims that, during a phone conversation with the 2004 AI winner, Fantasia said, “He don’t want you. Maybe the next time that you get a husband you’ll know how to keep him. That’s why he’s here with me.”
The action was filed in North Carolina, one of just seven states that allow for a so-called “home wrecker” to be sued as part of a divorce action.
Paula Cook has not taken that step against Fantasia but it is a legal option for her.
Fantasia has a daughter Zion who turns nine tomorrow.
