Tropical storm Agatha killed at least 152 people in Guatemala, 16 in Honduras and nine in El Salvador. Thousands have been left homeless and 100 people are still missing in a storm that hit over the weekend.

Torrential rains, high winds and mudslides have added to the misery as rescue workers continue to search for the missing who are likely buried beneath destroyed homes. Rescue efforts have been further hampered by volcanic ash that covers an area near the capital.

Destruction from the storm has been widespread. Nine rivers are at dramatically high levels and 13 bridges have collapsed.

The huge downpour created a giant sinkhole in the northern part of Guatelmala City. The circular crater is 66 feet wide and nearly 100 feet deep. It reportedly swallowed up a three-story building and a house.
