Anna Chlumsky first arrived on the scene at age 11 in 1991, when she played the role of Vada in “My Girl” with child actor Macauley Culkin. Three years later she appeared in the sequel “My Girl 2”. After that she did a few TV movies and then slowly drifted away from that life.
After attending the University of Chicago, Anna pursued a career as a food writer and dabbled in the book publishing business but was starting to miss acting in a big way. She enrolled at the Atlantic Acting School in Manhattan and decided to give herself a year to see if she could make a comeback as an actress — this time as an adult.
She is just finishing an off-Broadway stint in a rotating cast of “Love, Loss and What I Wore”. She is also filming a television pilot for “The Quinn-tuplets” with Amber Tamblyn and Molly Parker.
Fast approaching 30, Chlumsky wonders: “Oh what would have happened if I had gone to Julliard? Oh, would I have gotten more work if I had not taken a break? But I did take a break, and I’m happy I took the break, and that’s my life, and that’s really cool.”
