Students at Olathe Northwest High School in Kansas decided to punk Joel Branstrom, the popular girl’s basketball coach during a winter sports pep assembly on January 22, 2010.

The kids told the coach that he would win coveted NCAA Final Four tickets if he was able to hit a half-court shot while blindfolded. The student body was told to cheer wildly, in order to make him think that he had made the shot. Everyone would laugh and that would be the end of it.

The elaborate hoax went awry when the former University of Kansas standout player actually hit the shot. The kids felt bad and pooled their resources to buy the coach a gift certificate to a local Mexican restaurant.

The video and story has since gone viral and along with it multiple offers to donate the Final Four tickets to Branstrom — a just reward for the miracle shot.
