Jimmie Johnson cinched his record breaking fourth NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Championship on Sunday, November 22 in Homestead, Florida, becoming the first driver in NASCAR history to win the title in four consecutive years.
The win came after he finished fifth place in the Ford 400 event on Sunday. Statistically, he has finished in the Top 5 a remarkable 64 times in the last four years, according to Sports Illustrated.
Crew chief Chad Knaus summed up the season and Johnson’s new record by saying, “Jimmie can do things with a race car that I haven’t seen anyone else do.”
Johnson recently signed a mini-series deal with HBO for a NASCAR based reality show. Cameras will follow Johnson from January up to the 2010 Daytona 500.
Jimmie has been married to Chandra Janway Johnson since December 2004 – see photos of the couple in our gallery below as well as video of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Championship trophy ceremony.
