Actor and comedian Randy Quaid and his wife Evi Quaid were arrested by Presidio County Sheriff’s deputies on Thursday in Marfa, Texas. Felony arrest warrants had been issued for the couple in Santa Barbara, California for conspiracy, defrauding an innkeeper and burglary. Extradition of the couple by Santa Barbara County is likely.

The couple were being held on $20,000 bond – see booking photos below. Presidio Sheriff Danny Dominguez drove Quaid to a local bank to obtain his bail money. Quaid and his wife were released after being held for several hours.

The brother of actor Dennis Quaid checked into the San Ysidro Ranch with his wife on June 13, 2009. The innkeeper discovered the next day that their credit card had been declined but he allowed them to stay when they indicated they had another card coming. After a week of racking up a considerable tab, the couple vanished.

The innkeeper told police that the Quaid’s owe $10,000 and all attempts by him to recoup the money have been futile. Word has it the scam has been used previously by the couple, including at the Bel Air Hotel in L.A. Now that they have been apprehended, it is likely that others who have been sucked in by the couple will get in line for retribution.

The 58-year-old Quaid is best known for his roles in Ball’s Out: The Gary Houseman Story, Independence Day, Kingpin, Brokeback Mountain and the CBS miniseries Elvis. He won a Golden Globe Award and was nominated for an Emmy for his portrayal of President Lyndon Johnson in the film LBJ: The Early Years.

Quaid has been married to Evi, a former Helmut Newton model, for 20 years. View more photos of the couple below – click to expand.
