Rodney King Fight Results

rodney king vs simon aouad

Police brutality victim Rodney King and former rogue police officer Simon "The Renegade" Aouad squared off on September 11, in a Celebrity Boxing match aired on pay-per-view.

The fight garnered a lot of attention, as 43-year-old King -- the famous police brutality victim that sparked the Los Angeles riots in 1992, and Aouad -- a 31-year-old former cop kicked out of the Philadelphia police force because he "couldn't follow the rules," made the media rounds to publicize the bout.

“I know some people will see the irony here,” King said about boxing a police officer, “but I would have fought anyone who was worthy.”

Aouad repeatedly referred to the infamous 1991 event in which King was tasered and beaten by four police officers, telling him: "I'm going to beat you so bad, Rodney, you're going to wish you were back in LA. I broke bones for a living every day."

The fight, which took place at the Philadelphia Airport Ramada Inn, was broadcast on pay-per-view and watched by a live audience paying $25 a ticket.

The fight results are not immediately available, however, sources tell me that Rodney King won the fight.

UPDATE:  I just spoke with Celebrity Boxing Federation Publicist Shannon Rose, who confirmed that Rodney King did win the match.  No further details are available at this time, however, I will update again once I receive more information.

UPDATE:  The fight went three rounds, with King winning in a unanimous decision.   View Eclectic Media Productions press release below.
