It was results night on FOX reality show American Idol on Wednesday – a double elimination which brings the head count of remaining competitors to just five. According to show host Ryan Seacrest, there were 45 million votes this week – the highest yet for the season.

The first eliminated contestant turned out to be Lil Rounds. She took the news in stride, looking quite lovely we might add. Her parting song was a second rendition of I’m Every Woman. This performance was heartfelt and she really knocked it out of the ballpark.

Also ending up in the bottom three were Anoop Desai and Allison Iraheta. Both have been in that position several times this season but in the end, it was Anoop who would be going home. He had another go at Dim All The Lights and definitely did the song justice this time around.

Your Top 5 Idol hopefuls are Allison Iraheta, Adam Lambert, Kris Allen, Danny Gokey, Matt Giraud, who many thought would go home this week. With less than a month remaining in the competition, the final performances of Season 8 will be broadcast on Tuesday May 19. The finale will air on Wednesday May 20, when the next American Idol will be named.
