Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz exchanged their wedding vows on Saturday night in an intimate ceremony. The 23 year old bride wore an ivory lace gown by Monique Lhuillier with a diamond necklace and earrings by Neil Lane. She and the 28 year old groom were married at the home of the bride’s parents in Los Angeles.
The 150 guests witnessed the non denominational ceremony that was performed by the bride’s father Joe Simpson. The bride’s sister Jessica Simpson served as maid of honor and Pete’s dog Hemingway, an English bulldog, served as the ring bearer. Jessica’s boyfriend, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo was in attendance, as were close friends Nicole Richie, Joel Madden, Donald Faison and CaCee Cobb.
According to People magazine, wedding planner Mindy Weiss helped Simpson pull off her dream nuptials: The Alice in Wonderland themed reception featured a wedding cake with top hat, tea pot, stop watch and a pot of flowers on top. Guests were served champagne followed by a sit-down dinner and dancing to a DJ.
Simpson, pregnant with the couple’s first child, and Wentz, the bassist for Fall Out Boy, have dated since November 2006. This is the first marriage for both.
