The rock band Coldplay was formed in London in 1998. The group has sold over 30 million albums, an impressive accomplishment. Their latest album, Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends will release on June 16, 2008. The group will hit the road for a 29 city tour that kicks off on June 29th at Wachovia Center in Philadelphia and wraps on November 22 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Eight of the venues will be in Canada.

Martin has described this album as a new direction for Coldplay: a change from their past three albums, which they have referred to as a ‘trilogy’. Martin has also revealed that this album features much less of his falsetto, and he has allowed his voice’s lower register to take precedence. Some songs on Viva la Vida, such as Violet Hill, contain distorted guitar riffs and bluesy undertones.

Band members include Jonny Buckland, Guy Berryman, Will Champion and Chris Martin, who is married to Gwyneth Paltrow. Check out more photos below.
