Carla Bruni aka First Lady of France Carla Bruni-Sarkozy has put on royal airs for her State Visit to England. Never have we been witness to a bundled up and decidedly matronly looking Bruni. Her regal appearance is an attempt to lend some credibility to her new position as wife to French President Nicolas Sarkozy.
News hit yesterday that Christie’s Auction House, established in 1766, is planning to sell a nude portrait of Bruni at an upcoming Rockerfeller Center auction in NYC – slated for April 10, 2008. Sarkozy was said to be incredible miffed at the timing of the story, which hit London newspapers yesterday. Nude portraits also being offered up are likenesses of Kate Moss and Gisele Bundchen. The royal couple were met at the airport by Prince Charles and his second wife Camilla Parker-Bowles. The British royals were on hand to escort the Sarkozy’s to Windsor Castle. They will be guests of Queen Elizabeth during their two day diplomatic visit.
