One point.

Just one measly point.

That’s all that separated Cheryl Burke and Gilles Marini from their second consecutive perfect score on last night’s Dancing with the Stars.

Despite being told by Carrie Ann Inaba that their Paso Doble “almost brought tears” to her eyes, and despite Bruno Tonioli’s raves that it “was more than a dance, [it] was a battle for supremacy,” the couple was denied another 30 because Len Goodman referred to the routine as “hectic.”

No matter. Burke and Marini still sit atop this week’s leaderboard. Here’s a look at last night’s scores:

  • Gilles Marini and Cheryl Burke: 29
  • Lil’ Kim and Derek Hough: 26
  • Shawn Johnson and Mark Ballas: 26
  • Melissa Rycroft and Tony Dovolani: 25
  • Chuck Wicks and Julianne Hough: 23
  • David Alan Grier and Kym Johnson: 22
  • Ty Murray and Chelsie Hightower: 21
  • Lawrence Taylor and Edyta Sliwinska: 20
  • Steve-O and Lacey Schwimmer: 18

Steve-O and Lacey Schwimmer have had fun this season, while Derek Hough and Lil Kim are all business. Read more about each couple’s most recent performance via this Dancing with the Stars recap.
