On October 13th, 2007, singer T.I. aka Clifford Harris Jr., was arrested for trying to purchase unregistered machine guns and silencers. Today the Paper Trail performer was sentenced to spend one year and one day in a Georgia prison.
The Grammy winning hip-hop star pleaded guilty and agreed to complete 1000 community service hours before sentencing, paid a $100,000 fine and will have to do another 500 community service hours once he is released.
T.I. has been working with MTV on his show called Road to Redemption where he tries to help steer young kids in the right direction. Also, the reformed rapper has taken the stage 262 time for public appearances and is involved in a pro-voting campaign.
The 28 year old is expected to turn himself in within the next 30 to 60 days. Words from the singer:
“Today I would like to say thank you to some, and apologize to all. Everything I learned was through trial and error. I’ve learned lessons in my life to put in my music so people won’t make the same mistakes as I.”
