Twitter has become a world wide phenomenon. Trending topics, twitpics, and tweeting has become a normal way of communicating for the social networking obsessed. In the real world it is very difficult to track down our favorite celebrities, but in the cyber world we have easy access and if we are lucky enough we can actually make contact and maybe even get them to “follow” us.
That’s exactly what happened to Sarah Killen, known as @lovelybutton on Twitter, making her an instant overnight sensation. Two weeks ago comedian and former Tonight Show host Conan O’Brien decided that he would follow one random person on Twitter. Sarah was Conan’s lucky pick. Conan tweeted, “Sarah Killen your life is about to change.” Conan was right–in days she went from having a few followers to over 18,000.
Being Conan’s only Twitter buddy definitely comes with perks. Sarah tweeted today (March 9) “I am going to meet Ludacris!!! And then a morning show and Larry King tomorrow.”
Sarah has also received a ton of financial help for her upcoming wedding- something she is thrilled about because she wasn’t sure she could afford everything. She hopes that Conan will make it to her September 25th wedding since his decision to be her friend on Twitter has helped so much. She told People magazine that her fiance wants Conan to be his best man.
Being Conan’s Twitter friend isn’t all about the free stuff though. Sarah is using her new found fame to raise money for breast cancer research.
