The two-part Dancing With the Stars finale is halfway to completion. The three remaining couples performed two dances on the FOX hit reality show Monday night and will perform two more tomorrow night.
The scores were lower than they have been in the past few week. Erin Andrews and Maksim Chmerkovskiy scored 29 for their Samba and 26 for their Freestyle for a combined score of 55.
Nicole Scherzinger and Derek Hough scored 28 for their Rumba and 27 for their Freestyle. Their second performance would have scored higher, had Hough not slipped on the last lift. They are tied with Erin and Maks at 55.
Having a decidedly off night were Evan Lysacek and Anna Trebunskaya. They scored 28 on their Viennese Waltz but struggled with their Freestyle, getting a trio of 8’s from the judges for a disappointing 24. Len Goodman summed it up by saying that they were dancing two separate dances and neither looked like they wanted to be doing it at all. Their combined score for the night was 52.
The couples are counting on their fans to vote them up tonight. At the beginning of Tuesday night’s show, one couple will be eliminated. The final two will perform two dances, with the winner taking the top prize — the coveted Mirrorball trophy.
