Minnesota Vikings head coach Brad Childress denies that he has heard anything from Brett Favre regarding a decision to retire for the third time. The AP reported today that a secret source, close to the situation, claims the 41-year-old quarterback is hanging it up again.
Childress visited Favre in Hattisburg, Mississippi just two weeks ago and came away saying he is giving his guy the space he needs to make the right decision for himself and his family – see video footage below.
Favre has previously retired from the Green Bay Packer and the New York Jets. Is anyone surprised that he is once again going through his ritual that has apparently turned into a game for the veteran NFL player? Or is this really what is going on?
The aging but still talented QB clearly doesn’t want to attend summer camp. The entire Vikings organization knows this and accepts the fact that his decision won’t be made known until camp is over – shades of last season.
It seems more likely that someone wants to shake things up and force Favre’s hand, or at the very least, drum up some excitement prior to the start of the pre-season games.
Favre became a grandfather earlier this year.
