Forbes magazine has released its annual list of the Top 10 American Idol money earners for the past year and the winner is literally millions ahead of the others.
The list is comprised of the ten former Idol contestants who made the most money before taxes between May 2010 and May 2011. Blowing away the competition was country crooner Carrie Underwood, who raked in a cool $20 million.
Tied for second place were Chris Daughtry and Adam Lambert, who each made $6 million. Season three AI winner Fantasia Barrino took fourth spot with her $4 million income.
The fifth place finisher was youngster Jordin Sparks, who earned $3 million. The first ever Idol, Kelly Clarkson, landed in sixth place with $2.5 million.
Coming in seventh on the list was Jennifer Hudson at $2 million, followed by Kellie Pickler who made $1.8 million, good enough for eighth position.
In the ninth slot was Clay Aiken, who brought in $1.5 million. Last but not least, in a three-way tie: Katharine McPhee, David Archuletta and David Cook, each earning a respectable $1 million.
Narrowly missing the list were Kris Allen, Lee DeWyze, Crystal Bowersox and Ruben Studdard.
American Idol host Ryan Seacrest made far more than all of the Top 10 put together, amassing a tidy $61 million last year.
