Charlie’s Angels star Farrah Fawcett lost her courageous battle with cancer in 2009 at the age of 62. Toy manufacturer Mattel was commissioned to create a Barbie doll, bearing her likeness. Proceeds from the sale of the collector doll will aid Farrah’s cancer charity.
Before her death, the actress set up the Farrah Fawcett Foundation, naming her best friend Alana Stewart as president of the non-profit organization.
Stewart has signed the deal with Mattel to create the doll, based on the iconic 1976 red swimsuit poster.
There is no doubt in Alana’s mind that Farrah would approve. She said: “It has a sexy, All-American beauty; there is an innocence to it. When we were in Germany for treatments, Farrah told me she was glad she got cancer because now she could make a difference.”
