Singer Gavin DeGraw, famous for his One Tree Hill theme song “I Don’t Want to Be”, was brutally attacked in New York City early Monday morning, August 8.
After partying with friends, the 34-year-old musician was accosted by a group of street thugs who jumped him in the East Village at 4:00 a.m., breaking his nose and lacerating his face.
DeGraw stumbled a few blocks from First Avenue to Third before being hit by a cab at 4:30 a.m.
His rep issued this statement, “Gavin DeGraw has been assaulted and taken to the emergency room at Bellevue Hospital by ambulance. He is currently under observation.”
At last report, Gavin remains hospitalized and is listed in stable condition. Hospital officials notified police after determining that the patient had been attacked.
DeGraw has been touring with Maroon 5 and Train as one of their opening acts. The next tour stop is scheduled for tonight in Saratoga Springs, NY.
