The Twins took on the Boston Red Sox at Target Field Monday night and it didn’t go well for the home team. Minnesota fans quickly got over the 8-6 loss because they had a huge distraction.

TV personality Ellen Degeneres was at the ballpark and became the center of attention when one of the television sports announcers, former Twins pitcher and Hall of Famer Burt Blyleven, circled her on his telestrator.

DeGeneres was actually in town to promote the fact that she’ll be taking over Oprah Winfrey‘s 4:00 p.m. time slot on WCCO-Channel 4 in the Twin Cities.

She used her Twitter account to give her fans a shout out and ask for some advice: “Hello Minneapolis! So excited to be here getting ready for Season 9 of my show. Where should I go? What should I do?”

While in the Twin Cities, E did make a number of appearance. Crowds gathered on the Nicollet Mall to catch the talk show host as she viewed the famous Mary Tyler Moore statue. In a nod to the comedian’s well-known love of the dance, many of those gathered showed off their best moves.

Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak was on hand to read an official proclamation declaring this Ellen DeGeneres Week.
