Actor Dick Van Dyke, 87, narrowly escaped his burning Jaguar Monday as it burst into flames on the 101 freeway in Los Angeles.
A passing motorist, Jason Pennington, saw an elderly gentleman slumped over the steering wheel and pulled him to safety as the car became totally engulfed in flames.
Van Dyke, on his way to the dentist, was slightly disoriented due to the smoke filling the passenger compartment but appeared otherwise unharmed. He did not require medical attention at the scene and was picked up shortly after the incident by his wife, Arlene Silver Van Dyke, who gave him a lift back to their residence.
She tweeted, “Van Dyke’s melted car. He’s fine thank God!!”
