‘Fast and Furious’ star Paul Walker died in a car crash in Southern California at 3:30 p.m. pacific time on Saturday. He was 40.
Paul, a passenger in a 2005 Porsche Carrera GT driven by Roger Rodas, left a charity event for Reach Out Worldwide in Valencia, a community in the city of Santa Clarita shortly before the horrific crash.
According to his publicist, the actor’s friend lost control and crashed into a light pole and a tree, causing their vehicle to burst into flames upon impact.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department confirmed that both men were killed and it appears speed was a major factor in the accident.
Walker was born in Glendale, California and began acting at a very young age, first appearing in a number of commercials. His television guest appearances included stints on ‘Charles in Charge,’ ”Who’s the Boss?’ and ‘The Young and the Restless.’
Paul’s first big break came in 1999 when he appeared in ‘Varsity Blues’ and he went on to star in ‘The Fast and the Furious’ film series, ‘Eight Below,’ ‘Into the Blue,’ ‘She’s All That’ and ‘Takers.’ He also appeared on the National Geographic Channel series ‘Expedition Great White.’
He is survived by a 15-year-old daughter, Meadow.
