Anchor Rancor: Tom Brokaw finally bitchslaps Dan Rather

Whee, news anchor in-fighting. Well, since it’s stemming from just-retired Tom Brokaw, maybe it’s not exactly “in-fighting,” but who cares – Tom’s ranking on Danny! Having stood behind Dan Rather duruing Memogate while his tenure at NBC ran out, Brokaw now says “it appeared to me that they made a very big mistake” – and then something about waiting for an investigation, but mentioning that would take all the fun out of pulling quotes out of context.
Of course, those obnoxious people on the Internet (we hear some are calling them “bloggers,” shhh) were the real culprit, especially the Media Research Center’s L. Brent Bozell. Tommy says Bozell was “”doing as much damage as he can, and I choose that word carefully, to the credibility of the news divisions.” It’s a very difficult job to pick up the slack for Dan Rather.
