In a conspiracy to get more than two dozen people to tune into Topic A With Tina Brown (where obnoxious interviews with network headliners ventured to more than one network), IWantMedia.com launched its annual Media Person of the Year contest to scope out who in 2004 deserves to follow in the wake of Martha Stewart (2002 winner, now in prison) and Bonnie Fuller (2003 winner, now most hated media personality). Likely candidates include Jon Stewart, Howard Stern and Dan Rather. But what about those un-A-list media types, like the very worthy but always overlooked E! talking head Jules Asner and ET host-slash-One Tree Hill guest star Maria Menounos? We think it’s time these women of celebrity schlop got their day in the spotlight, because we can’t take much more of Stone Phillips’ celebrity interviews.
