There’s a lot of drama on 90 Day Fiance: Happily Ever After? No couple is immune.
But we absolutely love Nicole Nafziger and we applaud her for the way that she tunes out the haters.
Few stars in that franchise have had to defend their romantic choices for as long as she has.
Fans — even those who seem to really care about her — continue to concern troll her about her engagement to Azan Tefou.
Some think that he’s just scamming her, stringing her along so that she’ll send him money while he lives the easy life.
But this week, Nicole spoke out and made it 100% crystal clear that she’s not his sugar mama. Not anymore, anyway.
Is Nicole Azan’s sugar mama?
Some fans have said, if not in so many words, that Nicole has sent too much money to her fiance, Azan. Others have said, in much less kind terms, that they think that Azan is only dragging out this farce of an engagement because he wants to keep the money coming. Nicole is SO tired of hearing this BS, and is here to set the record straight.
Nicole has spoken out a lot on social media
“Y’all only see a TV show that is about my ROMANTIC life,” she reminded her followers on Instagram. “Not my ENTIRE life.”
She’s not a fool, she’s just in love
“I am not delusional. I am not ‘mental.’ Yes, I am all here,†Nicole affirmed after people suggested that she was disconnected from reality for believing that Azan isn’t just leading her on.
The love is mutual, folks
“Crazy as it seems,” Nicole said, we imagine bitterly. “Azan loves me just as much as I love him.” Some pointed to the multiple canceled weddings and other issues as evidence to the contrary.
She deserves happiness
“Yes,” Nicole wrote. “I know I am worthy to be loved by someone who treats me well.” We have to say that we think that some of the appalling hate that Nicole receives is from people who don’t think that Nicole, who is beautiful, is worthy of love. That’s false — and heartbreaking. Clearly, some people think that Nicole is chasing Azan out of a lack of self-worth.
It’s not that she CAN get a man who loves her — she already has
“And,” Nicole insisted to her followers. “Azan is that man.” Some of her own fans have tried to urge her to find love elsewhere. Possibly even in the US.
And she wants to quash one rumor once and for all
“I DO NOT send Azan money regularly,” Nicole says. No shade, but the word “regularly” really sticks out. She has more to say on this, as you’ll soon see.
Azan isn’t her sugar baby
“So I guess a lot of y’all assume I give money to Azan so he stays around,” Nicole wrote another time on Instagram.
That’s simply not the case
Again, Nicole emphasizes: “I don’t send money to Azan anymore.” And once again, we’re getting qualifiers like “anymore,” which is probably why her fans still have questions.
Azan might even have a job!
“He makes his own money,” Nicole wrote. “And I only helped him out sometimes.” Okay, that’s more clarification … but we want more.

Nicole set some boundaries
“First of all,” she tells her fans. “My finances [aren’t] anyone’s business.” You know what? She’s a public figure, but there are lines that fans should not try to cross.
That said …
She wants fans to butt out of her bank, “But I actually don’t send Azan any money.”
We hope that she can understand that people have questions
There was a time when Nicole, a former Starbucks employee, claimed to have given Azan $6,000, a tremendous amount of money to a single mom, to open a store. It was a relief to hear that it was a lie, but the idea stuck with people for a while.
Get real, people
“Don’t think that I’m doing more for him than I am my own daughter, you know?” Nicole says. She also makes it clear that, despite family and fan concerns (about the $9000 tuition if she wants May to attend a good school in Morocco), she has things all set up for May to go to school when they move there this summer.
Azan isn’t as unemployed as it has sounded
“Yes,” Nicole reveals. “He has some kind of job.” Now,that may be too nondescript for anyone to find reassuring, but it’s definitely a far cry from the idea floating around that Azan just hangs out with his friends instead of working.
Who so incredibly vague?
“I can’t say too much about it,” Nicole admits. “But, he’s making his own money.” It’s possible that she’s still under NDA. Some suspect that she may just worry about how fans will react if they hear what his alleged job is.
Is that all?
Nicole apologetically revealed that she could not answer all of the fan questions that came up during her stream with John Yates. That’s totally understandable — she is under an NDA while 90 Day Fiance: Happily Ever After? continues to air.
