Does it make sense for an SNL cast member to be nominated against actresses who play the same characters on scripted TV shows? Not at all. But darn it if McKinnon didn’t make us cry when she could barely get any words out and was shaking uncontrollably on stage.
Julia Louis-Dreyfus Wins… Again
This was sher FIFTH straight victory for Lead Actress in a Comedy. She managed to make us laugh with a quip about the state of politics these days and then make us cry when she broke down over her dad’s very recent death.
Stranger, Tastier Things
The kids from Stranger Things got involved when they rode bikes around and handed out peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.

An Important Message
Upon accepting his trophy for Lead Actor in a Comedy, Jeffrey Tambor said: “I would not be unhappy were I the last cis gender male to play a female gender on television,” he said. “We have work to do.” (Later, while presenting, Orange Is the New Black actress Laverne Cox echoed this sentiment.)
Courtney B. Pushing
After giving his speech for Outstanding Actor in a Limited Series, Courtney B. Vance ended with a figurative mic drop and the words: “Obama out! Hillary in!”

Alan Yang – who won Outstanding Writing for a Comedy for Master of None with Aziz Ansar – had a few sage words of advice for Asian parents: “Just a couple of you, give your kids cameras instead of violins, and we’ll be all good.”
