Better late than never, right, J.K. Rowling?
The beloved author behind the best-selling children’s book series in human history made an unexpected admission on Saturday, Tweeting her apologies for killing off a fan favorite during the Battle of Hogwarts.
"Today I would just like to say: I’m really sorry about Fred," Rowling wrote online. "*bows head in acceptance of your reasonable ire*"
Fred Weasley, brother of Ron, perished way back in 1998, with Rowling informing fans that Saturday marked the 17th anniversary of his passing.
When one fan inquired about Tonks and/or Lupin, the 49-year-old scribe said more mea culpas may be on the way down the line.
"I thought I might apologise for one death per anniversary," Rowling Tweeted in response. "Fred was the worst for me, so I started with him."
Rowling has come out on a number of occasions since the final Harry Potter film hit theaters and surprised fans with a few candid words here and there.
She previously said Dumbledore was gay and she also expressed regret for not hooking up Harry with Hermione.
Ouch! It’s a good thing Rowling feels badly about killing off Fred in this case. Because that previous admission is a pretty big slap in the face to his two siblings.
