Over the years, Grey’s Anatomy has featured a main character being run over by a bus.

Also: a giant storm, a hospital shooting and a plane crash, among many other large-scale tragedies.

In other words: this long-running ABC drama isn’t known for its humor.

But Ellen Pompeo – who may quit acting when the show’s run is complete – is perhaps seeking to change that impression, at least based on the following hilarious set photo the actress posted to her WhoSay account.

“Blue is the new black #8daystillgreys #greysanatomy,” Pompeo Tweeted in anticipation of the Grey’s Anatomy Season 11 opener, which airs on Thursday, September 25 at 8/7c.

Fellow Shonda Rhimes star Kerry Washington retweeted the photo and added as her own caption:

“UH. MAY. ZING. #TGIT,” a reference to the term Thank Good It’s Thursday, which ABC is hoping to get trending in relation to the weekly block of Grey’s Anatomy at 8 p.m., Scandal at 9 p.m. and How to Get Away With Murder (starring Viola Davis) at 10 p.m.

Grey’s Anatomy fans, meanwhile, should take note: flashbacks are on the way!

“We are doing a lot of flashback stuff. Very challenging…A lot of people say how can you stay on a show 11 years. After 11 seasons you have to stay so alive and present. You can’t disappoint the audience. You have to bring it,” Pompeo recently said during a panel discussion in Washington.
