Ellen Pompeo: I May Be Done with Acting!

Ellen Pompeo may soon be checking out of Grey's Anatomy.

And acting altogether.

In a discussion with Buzzfeed last night, the veteran actress - who is signed through Grey's Anatomy Season 11 and Grey's Anatomy Season 12 - made it clear that being in front of the camera is no longer a passion.

Explosion on Grey's Anatomy

“I definitely don’t have a strong desire to act after Grey’s. I definitely feel myself transitioning. I don’t find acting terribly empowering,” Pompeo said during a BuzzFeed Brews Q&A while seated alongside stars Kerry Washington (Scandal) and Viola Davis (How to Get Away With Murder).

The woman behind Meredith Grey has already agreed to produce a potential ABC drama about a Boston cop who becomes a psychologist after a serious injury... and says producing could be in her future.

"Acting has been a wonderful opportunity, but I’ve done so much of it for the past 11 years," Pompeo added, though she refused to make any definitive statements.

"I would never say never. I try to keep an open heart and an open soul and spirit to whatever comes my way, and whatever is meant to be for me will be.”

Grey's Anatomy Season 11 moves up an hour and premieres on Thursday, September 25 at 8/7.

You can always watch Grey's Anatomy online via TV Fanatic if you need to catch up before then.
