Late last month, Scott Disick checked into rehab to pursue professional health as he grapples with emotional issues and processes trauma.
He and Sofia Richie are on a break right now, which means that Scott is reportedly turning to Kourtney Kardashian for emotional support.
Initial reports said that Scott had checked into All Points North Lodge in Edwards, Colorado for abuse of alcohol and cocaine abuse.
However, this claim was quickly denied, as his attorney shared that Scott's struggle is much more complicated.
According to his attorney, Scott has "finally come to terms and deal with the pain that Scott has been silently suffering for many years."
This pain is "due to the sudden death of his mother, followed by the death of his father 3 months later."
"Scott made the decision to check himself into a rehab facility last week," his attorney said at the time, "to work on his past traumas."
Like so many people, Scott found that going on lockdown alone in his home -- in his case, a mansion -- left him plagued by his own thoughts.
That's how Scott realized that he had never really properly coped with or processed the deaths of his parents, though they died several years ago.
It is never too late to work on your mental health and to process traumas to improve your wellness, your state of mind, and your life.
However, reports say that Sofia had also noticed that Scott was not at his best in terms of his mental and emotional health.
It is said that the two resolved to put their relationship on pause while Scott sorts himself out.
His stay at All Points North Lodge did not work out after a photo leaked, to the horror of the center's owners and managers.
Scott is now at a Los Angeles facility where he hopes to continue treatment without any further egregious violations of his privacy.
Us Weekly's source says that he will remain split from Sofia "until Scott straightens himself out more.”
The insider added: “Scott is in an okay place right now and is trying to get better and focus on work."
"But," the source stressed, "he has to prove himself."
Other reports have said that Sofia understands that he's going through a lot right now, and is proud of him for seeking help.
Aside from his own recovery and well being, Scott is of course also focusing on his three children.
Perhaps that is why Life & Style's inside source says that he is "leaning" on Kourtney for "emotional support."
They know each other well after their lengthy relationship and even more years of coparenting.
Of course, longtime shippers may hope that they get back together ... but we wouldn't recommend holding your breath.
Now, apparently the temporary split was Sofia's idea, as Scott is something of a handful at the moment.
But while relationships can be an amazing source of emotional support, they can also involve intense emotional labor.
He might feel obligated to devote more attention to her, and that could distract Scott from his journey.
At the same time, sometimes mental health struggles can be hard for loved ones, who need a break.
