The eighth and final season of Game of Thrones has not been met with critical acclaim.

That may even be an understatement, following the controversial events on Game of Thrones Season 8 Episode 5.

But while most viewers have chalked this disappointment up to the challenges faced by creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss after they no longer had George R.R. Martin’s source material as inspiration… some others are not nearly as understanding.

These viewers refuse to simply shrug their shoulders over the events of the past few weeks, remember the endless array of memorable scenes, episodes and characters and just move on with their lives.

Nope.

These viewers are demanding HBO hire a new set of writers and reshoot an entirely new Season 8 of the series to air some time down the line.

At last check, a petition over at Change.org that outlines this request had over 868,000 signatures, which is just… come on now, people!

This idea is more idiotic and nonsensical than any of the storylines that have made up this controversial season.

"David Benioff and D.B. Weiss have proven themselves to be woefully incompetent writers when they have no source material (i.e. the books) to fall back on," reads the petition, which continues:

"This series deserves a final season that makes sense. Subvert my expectations and make it happen, HBO!"

In no particular order, here is an abridged list of plot points that fans have taken issue on Season 8:

Not being able to see the Battle of Winterfell clearly because it was so dark.

Arya killing the Night King instead of Jon.

The Night King’s relatively easy death.

Sansa’s conversation with The Hound, which attributed her strong character to the rape and torture she endured.

Rhaegal’s easy death.

Missandei dying in chains.

Jon’s treatment of Ghost.

The general existence of Euron Greyjoy.

Jaime’s reversal of his redemption arc and lackluster death by Cersei’s side.

Daenerys’ swift pivot to Mad Queen and subsequent burning of Kings Landing.

Because this petition is ridiculous and because it has garnered so many signature, the entire thing has gone viral over the past few days.

This has prompted the man who created it, some dude name Dylan, to explain his intentions as follows:

"I didn’t make this petition to be an entitled, whiny fan.

"I made it because I was immensely disappointed and needed to vent. Do I have a solution? I’ve got plenty of ideas, but no, I’m not a Hollywood writer. But you don’t need to be a mechanic to know your car is broken."

"Thank you to everyone for signing this silly thing. I will post another update if something tangible happens."

Clearly, nothing tangible will happen.

But Benioff and Weiss are set to write the upcoming "Star Wars" film, which is simply causing new outrage among the fans of these franchises.

"I don’t want these two anywhere near Star Wars, either," the top comment on the petition reads. "This was abysmal."

Some cast members sort of agree with this analysis.

And we’re certainly among those wondering if the finale can save this terrible season.

However, we’re not about to make such an outrageous demand as the one outlined above. It’s dumber than the decision by Benioff and Weiss to turn Brienne into a crying, pathetic mess at the sight of Jaime riding back to King’s Landing.

In related news, an estimated 10.7 million American employees are expected to skip work Monday following the much-anticipated series finale of the HBO show.

Those who will bow out from their job entirely said they’ll do so to either “celebrate or cope with the aftermath,” according to a survey released Wednesday from The Workforce Institute at Kronos Incorporated.

Moreover, another 16.5 million employees admitted the finale will impact their work day in some manner — whether it be by arriving late, working remotely or being less productive, the same survey found.

Imagine how they’d react if they actually liked Season 8!
