Luke Perry, the beloved former Beverly Hills 90210 cast member who currently stars on Riverdale, has suffered a stroke.
With information still coming in, TMZ describes the stroke as "massive" and reports that Perry has been hospitalized somewhere in the Los Angeles area.
UPDATE: Perry has passed away.
According to this same celebrity gossip outlet, paramedics responded to Perry's residence in Sherman Oaks around 9:40 a.m. on Thursday.
All that's really known about the call right now is that it was placed to the fire and that Perry was subssequently transported to a local hospital; it's unclear what his condition is right now.
Perry's name was actually just in the news yesterday after Fox announced that it will be reviving Beverly Hills 90210 this summer in a unique, mockumentary kind of way.
Jason Priestley, Jennie Garth, Ian Ziering, Gabrielle Carteris, Brian Austin Green and Tori Spelling are all on board for the reboot.
Perry rose to superstardom in the 1990s as bad boy Dylan McKay on this iconic drama and, as you can see above, is NOT included on the list of those scheduled to return.
However, there have been mumors of him making a cameo on the new series.
The 52-year old has been starring a Archie's dad, Fred, on The CW's wildly popular Riverdale.
He's been filming scenes for the show this week on the Warner Bros. lot in California and been a regular cast member since the pilot.
Other credits on Perry's resume include stints on John from Cincinnati, Body of Proof and Hot in Cleveland
The Ohio native has two kids with ex-wife Sophie Perry, from whom he split in 2003 after a decade of marriage.
The new Beverly Hils, 90210 will air six episodes this summer, although the premiere date has not yet been announced.
“Beverly Hills, 90210 left an indelible impact on pop culture and an entire generation,” Fox Entertainment president Michael Thorn said yesterday, adding:
“Its powerful legacy is an important part of our network’s DNA – bold stories not told anywhere else and bigger-than-life-characters – and we’re honored to bring back the beloved original cast members for 90210.”
And no one was more integral to the success and legacy of this series than Perry.
We'll update this story with more news as it breaks.s
And we wish Luke Perry a full recovery.
UPDATE: Perry has been placed in a medically-induced coma.
